MOUILLE SERGE

Serge Mouille was admitted at the age of thirteen at the School of Applied Arts in Paris. He specialized in metallurgy and got a silversmithing diploma. After having worked a few years in the workshop of Gabriel Lacroix, he opened his own studio in 1945, with the intention of creating silverware ustensils. In 1953, Serge Mouille started researching and designing light fixtures, while supervising the gold smithing department the School of Applied Arts where he graduated. The following year, Steph Simon opened a design gallery in Paris. Under the influence of Charlotte Perriand and Jean Prouvé, the gallery hosted the works of Serge Mouille, as well as those of Isamu Noguchi and Jean Luce. This marked the beginning of a discrete distribution of his light fixtures.
